The Yorkshire Dales Farmer Network

Awarded £25,000 LEADER support in 2009/2010. The project to establish a Yorkshire Dales Farmer Network is mentored through the experience of the existing Cumbria Farmer Network. The purpose of the Farmer Network is to give farmers in the area access to advice and support which will benefit their business and the environment.
The project aims to increase the profitability of farm businesses, maintain a sustainable farming population and enhance the natural resource base of the Yorkshire Dales. It will also help to strengthen the voice and influence of farmers in the Yorkshire Dales and Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty areas.
Over time the two Networks plan to merge into an over-arching organisation, with each County Network keeping their own identity and sharing the central services of management, finance, administration and promotion.
The project will have developed a range of services on offer for potential members by July 2010, aimed at saving costs through economies of scale and collaborative working.
