Long Preston Wet Grassland Project, Craven District

Yorkshire Dales Leader Programme

The Long Preston Wet Grassland Project has been developed by a partnership of organisations including the Yorkshire Dales Millennium Trust, RSPB, Environment Agency, Natural England, North Yorkshire County Council, Craven District Council and Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority.

The group are working with local landowners with the aim of improving the wet grassland habitat for wading and winter birds in the Long Preston Deeps and improving appropriate access to the site. This will also present sustainable economic opportunities for local businesses.

As part of the project, we are making physical improvements to the Ribble Way footpath, renovating an 18th century footbridge, and creating interpretation about the landscape, history and biodiversity of the site including a web-based downloadable audio trail.
