Showcasing Dales LEADER projects
The event showcased some successful LEADER-backed projects, like Settle Hydro Scheme, Chrysalis Arts creative mentoring project and North Stainley Sport and Recreation Trust.
Those attending enjoyed lively presentations including a talk from Swaledale Mountain Rescue Team, who received £30,000 in LEADER funding for new rescue equipment to support their vital work in the Dales. The event was also a welcome to the new chairman of the LEADER Local Action Group, Kevin Lancaster, and Vice chair Prue Keigwin. Andy Tordoff, Assistant Director of Environment for Yorkshire Forward, came along to meet the people who have been supported by LEADER. The LEADER programme is co-ordinated by Yorkshire Dales Millennium Trust (YDMT), in partnership with North Yorkshire County Council. David Sharrod, Director of YDMT, said “what impressed me most about the day is the genuine enthusiasm shown by groups taking this opportunity with LEADER to bring real benefits on the ground to their local communities.”
