Local Development Strategy and Our Area
The Yorkshire Dales LEADER Local Development Strategy 2014-2020 was submitted in September 2014. This plan was produced in order to provide background information on the Yorkshire Dales area and locally identified issues with regard to attracting LEADER funding. The strategy sets out clearly how the LEADER programme can be delivered and identifies the type of appropriate activities that can be supported.
The Yorkshire Dales LEADER Programme has been awarded £2.232 million for rural projects benefiting the LEADER rural area and communities.
All LEADER funds are awarded by the Local Action Group. It is a highly competitive fund.

The map below shows the boundary of the Yorkshire Dales LEADER area. This covers the whole of Richmondshire District, Craven District, the west of Harrogate Borough and a small part of Hambleton. It also includes the hub towns of Catterick Garrison, Ripon and Skipton. For an applicant based in one of the hub towns to be eligible to apply for LEADER the project must take place in and be of benefit to the rural area and rural population.
